Bokgil Sotbap: I’d Start with the Hanwoo-Bulgogi Pot

Bokgil is a sotbap (rice-pot) restaurant at 71 Cheomseong-ro, near Hwangridan-gil. Its two signature pots are abalone and Hanwoo bulgogi. Putting five public reviews next to my taste test record, I’d reach for the Hanwoo-bulgogi sotbap first. I haven’t visited, so this guide is based on reviews and my taste test.

Both rice pots and the abalone porridge are KRW 18,000

According to Naver Place’s menu (updated 23 September 2026) and Polle’s listing, abalone sotbap, Hanwoo-bulgogi sotbap and abalone porridge are KRW 18,000 each. Grilled mackerel (KRW 15,000) and grilled abalone (six pieces, KRW 24,000) can also be ordered separately.

Sets for two to four people

The economy set for two is KRW 49,000: two main dishes plus grilled mackerel. The special sets add grilled mackerel and grilled abalone to one main dish per person: KRW 61,000 for two (four abalone), KRW 85,000 for three (six) and KRW 109,000 for four (eight). Two rice pots ordered separately come to KRW 36,000, so the economy set works out as adding the mackerel for KRW 13,000.

Reviewers often call the meal neat

Polle shows five reviews (rated 3.4), and three of them describe the spread as neat or tidy. Others mention generously filled rice pots, several kinds of salted seafood on the side, and portions that were filling without extra dishes. One reviewer who had the two-person set enjoyed adding butter to the rice. On the other side, one liked the space and the view but found the food ordinary and said they prefer local flavours.

My taste record points to Hanwoo bulgogi

My taste test record (110 choices) leans towards meat over seafood as a main ingredient, and I tend to welcome a little richness. That puts the Hanwoo-bulgogi sotbap ahead of abalone for me. I usually pick less spicy food, and I couldn’t confirm how spicy the bulgogi seasoning is, so I’d ask when ordering. If someone at the table likes abalone, ordering one of each and sharing works well.

Closed for a break from 4 to 5 pm

The restaurant is at 71 Cheomseong-ro. Naver Place (checked on 20 October) lists daily hours of 10:30–21:00, a break from 16:00 to 17:00 and last orders at 20:10, with no regular closing day shown. There is no on-site parking, and the listing points to the Hwangridan-gil and Hwangnam public car parks, about five minutes’ walk away. Naver reservations aren’t offered, the restaurant uses Tabling for queueing, and group bookings are handled by text message. Its introduction and some reviews mention a view of the burial mounds, which will depend on the seat.

I’d start with the Hanwoo-bulgogi sotbap

On a first visit, I’d start with a single Hanwoo-bulgogi sotbap and share with a companion who picks the abalone one. Reviewers found the portions generous, so the grilled dishes can wait until after the first few bites. For two people who want the grilled mackerel anyway, the economy set costs KRW 2,000 less than ordering the same dishes separately (KRW 51,000).
