Daehwa Sanjang in Hwangridan-gil: Marinated Beef Ribs and BBQ Platters
Our Neighborhood Arena · August 28, 2026
Daehwa Sanjang is an easy-to-understand Korean beef barbecue option for an evening in Hwangridan-gil. The Korean name is 대화산장, roughly “dae-hwa san-jang.” Current public menus center on beef rib meat served either simply with salt or with a Gyeongju-style fresh marinade.
The freshly marinated beef ribs are useful to know about before ordering. Instead of only choosing one flavor, the menu also offers combinations such as half marinated and half salt-grilled beef, which can make a first Korean barbecue meal easier for a group with different preferences.
For groups, the restaurant offers platter-style choices in different sizes. Public menu information also shows side dishes and noodle options, so the meal can be ordered as one shared table rather than as separate individual dishes.
Daehwa Sanjang is mainly an afternoon-to-evening restaurant, which fits naturally after a daytime walk around Hwangridan-gil and the Daereungwon historic area. Opening hours, queues, and sold-out items can change, so check the latest information before visiting.
Compared with Daereung Galbi, the ordering style is simpler. Choose Daereung Galbi if you want to look at different beef cuts and select the meat yourself; choose Daehwa Sanjang if you prefer a clearly structured salt-grilled or marinated beef platter.
Korean mini-challenge: 소갈비 means beef ribs. To ask for the restaurant, show “대화산장” and say “대화산장 어디예요?” (dae-hwa san-jang eo-di-ye-yo?) — “Where is Daehwa Sanjang?”
