Daehwa Sanjang Galbi in Hwangridan-gil: Set Sizes, Prices and Dinner Hours

Galbi is what I'd look for at dinner in Hwangridan-gil, and Daehwa Sanjang's freshly marinated beef ribs are why this place is on my list. When I checked again in October, the restaurant at this address was trading as Daehwa Sutbul Garden, Hwangridan-gil branch, with the same address and phone number, so I'm treating it as the same place.

I haven't eaten here. This guide is based on public reviews, dated menu listings and my MATI taste-test record. The address is 742-1 Taejong-ro, Gyeongju. There are other Daehwa Sutbul Garden branches in Yonghwang-dong and in Pohang, so look for 'Hwangridan-gil' when you search on a map.

What comes in the set

The Naver Place menu I checked on 16 October 2026 centres on sets of freshly marinated beef ribs in three sizes. Reviews that describe the set mention sausage, chicken knee cartilage, kalguksu noodles and ice cream alongside the beef, and the comment I saw most often was that the set felt generous. Several reviewers also said the marinade wasn't heavy and the charcoal aroma came through.

The undated menu text on that Naver Place listing also showed a half-marinated, half-salted option in three sizes, at KRW 66,000, 79,000 and 128,000, and a visitor review from 15 October 2026 shows a half-and-half order on its receipt. Because the menu has no date, I can't promise every size is available on the day. Not every review was positive: with only nine or ten tables, some people waited 30 to 40 minutes while others got a table straight away, and a few said nobody showed them how to grill the meat.

My MATI record leans clearly towards meat rather than seafood, and a little towards rich, fatty flavours, so grilled beef ribs suit it. It leans slightly away from sweetness, though, and marinated galbi is often on the sweet side. That's why the reviews calling the marinade restrained matter to me. I'd still taste the first few pieces before ordering anything extra.

Prices

On the 16 October listing, the small 400g set was KRW 49,000, the 500g set KRW 59,000 and the special 800g set KRW 94,000. Single beef portions started at KRW 12,500 per 100g. The menu had no date on it, so prices may have changed since.

For two people, the 400g set comes to KRW 24,500 each before drinks. I couldn't confirm whether there's a separate table charge. Weight alone doesn't tell you whether a set will fill two hungry people, so ask the staff if you're unsure.

Dinner only, from 16:00

It's open daily from 16:00 to 23:00, with last orders at 22:00, so it works as a dinner stop after sightseeing rather than lunch. The Naver Place listing I checked on 16 October pointed to a free car park across the road (225-5 Noseo-dong), but I couldn't confirm whether parking there is still allowed or still free, so check before you leave the car. Waits in the reviews ranged from none to 30 or 40 minutes, so I'd plan the evening with some slack rather than count on a table at a set time.

If I went to Daehwa, I'd order the small 400g marinated set for two. It's the marinated beef I came for, and the kalguksu and ice cream round off the meal without another order. That's my own plan, not a promise that 400g fills two people. If the marinade turned out sweeter than I like, I'd ask for a salted single portion next, since the menu lists salt-grilled beef by the 100g, rather than move up to a bigger marinated set.
