Oega in Hwangridan-gil: Steak Sotbap and Salmon Sotbap Guide
Our Neighborhood Arena · August 28, 2026
Oega is a practical Hwangridan-gil choice if you want sotbap but prefer several topping options rather than one signature ingredient. The Korean name is 외가, roughly “oe-ga.” Official tourism information and current public menus list 72-hour-aged steak sotbap, salmon sotbap, abalone sotbap, pollack-roe sotbap, and other rice dishes.
The easiest choice is steak versus salmon. Pick steak sotbap if you want a meat-centered meal, or salmon sotbap if you prefer grilled fish. The menu also includes abalone and pollack roe, so people in the same group can choose very different toppings.
Sotbap means rice cooked and served in a hot pot. After moving the rice into a bowl, diners often pour hot water into the pot to make nurungji-style scorched-rice tea. This is useful to know before your first Korean sotbap meal.
Oega is in a hanok-style space on Sajeong-ro 57beon-gil, inside the Hwangridan-gil walking area. It fits naturally with Daereungwon and Cheomseongdae sightseeing, and official tourism information lists overseas-card acceptance.
Official tourism information lists 11:00 to 21:00 with a 15:00 to 17:00 break, while newer public listings show an earlier closing time. Because hours may have changed, check the latest same-day opening information before visiting.
Choose Bokgil when you want abalone or bulgogi sotbap with grilled side dishes in a set. Choose Oega when the priority is a wider range of sotbap toppings such as steak, salmon, abalone, and pollack roe.
Korean mini-challenge: 솥밥 is “sot-bap,” 연어 is “yeon-eo” (salmon), and 스테이크 is “seu-te-i-keu.” Show “외가” on your phone and ask “외가 어디예요?” (oe-ga eo-di-ye-yo?) — “Where is Oega?”
