Tiger Katsu: Tenderloin, Loin and Curry Options

Tenderloin katsu would be my first choice at Tiger Katsu. One visitor singled out how moist the tenderloin was, so that’s the plate I’d start with. If we were two, the second dish could be loin or curry, depending on what the other person wanted.

Tiger Katsu is on the first floor at 14 Sajeong-ro 57beon-gil. The menu descriptions and hours here were checked on 16 September 2026, the earlier English menu listing on 28 September, and the prices on 7 October. In a November 2023 post, Buni Story picked the tenderloin as a favourite on a second visit, despite not usually liking thick breading. The moist-meat description is that visitor’s experience, not mine.

Tenderloin, loin and cheese-filled katsu

The menu describes tenderloin as tender and lean, with loin and special loin as the other cuts. Tenderloin and loin sets are KRW 14,900 each, and special loin is KRW 15,900. Cheese galbi katsu is minced tenderloin seasoned with galbi sauce and filled with cheese, a menchi-style cutlet rather than a rib cut, and its price wasn’t in the menu I read. Plain tenderloin is for tasting the meat itself; the cheese version suits a day when the filling and sauce matter more.

Why my taste record points to tenderloin

I’d choose tenderloin katsu before any of the curries. My taste test record leans towards meat over seafood as a main ingredient, and towards a little richness over a very light taste, so a fried pork tenderloin suits me. I tend to pick less spicy and slightly less sweet food, so I’d add sauce a little at a time. The ebi curry with a large fried shrimp is a dish I’d add only if the other person wanted it.

I’d taste the first piece plain, then with a little salt or sauce if those come with the set. I haven’t eaten Tiger Katsu’s cutlet, so this is how I’d approach the meal, not a tasting note.

Prices for two dishes

At the 7 October prices, two tenderloin sets come to KRW 29,800, tenderloin with katsu curry (KRW 14,000) to KRW 28,900, and tenderloin with the children’s katsu set (KRW 7,900) to KRW 22,800. A regular set plus special loin is KRW 30,800, KRW 1,000 more than two regular sets. Drinks and extras are separate, and the prices don’t show portion sizes.

Katsu curry is described as sliced tenderloin with curry sauce, ebi curry as a large fried shrimp with curry, and chashu curry as pork-belly chashu with curry. Chicken curry also appeared in the earlier English menu listing. For a child, the portion and ingredients matter more than the price, and same-day stock and descriptions follow the menu on the day.

Parking, a high chair and the lunch cutoff

On DiningCode, one visitor ordered loin, cheese galbi katsu and chashu curry after queuing on Hwangridan-gil. Six comments there say parking isn’t available, and the listing notes a high chair. Waiting times change from day to day, so these records don’t predict today’s queue.

The 16 September schedule lists daily hours of 11:00–21:00, a break from 15:00 to 17:00 and lunch last orders at 14:30, so arriving shortly before 3 pm may already be too late for lunch. Closures, evening last orders and takeaway follow the restaurant’s official Instagram notices. With a car, the nearby public car parks are the practical option.

I’d start with tenderloin

I’d order the tenderloin katsu first. If the other person wanted curry, tenderloin and katsu curry come to KRW 28,900 at the listed prices; with loin instead, KRW 29,800. For omurice or stir-fried udon, Ryoko on the same street would suit better, and both restaurants list curry.
