When I first saw the name Hanwoo Sand, I pictured a beef sandwich. At Woomawang it turns out to be a snack: cream sandwiched between butter cookies, with Hanwoo beef jerky inside. The same shop at 1046 Poseok-ro also sells a Hanwoo cup mulhoe, so this time I looked at the gift box and the dishes eaten on the spot as two separate things.

Diningcode’s menu note calls it a patent-pending novelty dessert made by adding Hanwoo beef jerky to a butter cookie. One visitor review describes the filling as cream cheese, Hanwoo jerky and sweet caramel together. On the menu, a box of four Hanwoo Sands is KRW 10,000, and a separate patent-pending Hanwoo Sand box is KRW 18,000. I couldn’t find how many pieces the KRW 18,000 box holds.

Reviews: the cup mulhoe does well, the cookie splits opinion

Diningcode shows nine ratings with an overall score of 4.5, and I read the four visitor reviews whose text is visible. Two said the cup mulhoe was tasty or made a good snack, and two mentioned buying Hanwoo Sand as a gift (one review talked about both). Only two described how the cookie actually tasted. One liked the combination. The other expected a crisp cookie, found it closer to a dry bread texture, wasn’t sure why the jerky was there, and gave three points. With so few reviews, I can’t say which view is more common.

Hanwoo cup mulhoe and the combo sets

The menu describes the Hanwoo cup mulhoe (KRW 8,000) as Hanwoo served in a cup of sweet-and-sour broth flavoured with fresh fruit. The Hanwoo yukhoe kebab is KRW 9,000, and the two together are KRW 16,000. A set of one cup mulhoe and one Hanwoo Sand costs KRW 10,000. Raw and chilled dishes like these may not be on sale every day, so the shop’s own notice on the day is the safer guide.

The shop in this article is the Hwangridan-gil main branch on the ground floor of 1046 Poseok-ro. Diningcode lists its hours as 10:00 to 20:00 every day, and three respondents there said parking was difficult. Woomawang has other branches too, including one on Doldam-gil, so matching this address on the map avoids mixing them up.

What my taste test record points to

My taste test record (110 choices) leans towards meat over seafood as a main ingredient, welcomes sour flavours, and tends to pick slightly less sweet options. That makes the sweet-and-sour cup mulhoe with Hanwoo the first thing I notice. The jerky in Hanwoo Sand suits my meat side, but depending on how strong the caramel and cream are, the sweetness may sit a little far from my taste.

I’d start with the cup mulhoe and one Hanwoo Sand

If I went, I’d pick the KRW 10,000 set of one Hanwoo cup mulhoe and one Hanwoo Sand. The cup mulhoe fits my record, and since reviews of the cookie are split, trying a single piece before buying a box feels easier. As a gift, the four-piece box at KRW 10,000 seems the lighter choice.
